Instructions for Submitting a Graduation Application
The graduation process for postgraduate students involves the Department Assembly’s approval of the awarding of their Master’s Degree. This is an administrative process and is conducted without the presence of the graduates. In order to participate in this process, students who have completed their academic obligations in the postgraduate programme (i.e., passed all courses and submitted their thesis) must submit an electronic Graduation Application.
Subsequently, the School of Medicine organizes a Graduation Ceremony, in which all current graduates of the School’s postgraduate programmes may optionally participate. During this ceremony, the awarding of the degree is officially acknowledged.
To submit the Graduation Application, graduates will need:
- “Thesis Submission Certificate”, which is issued by the Central Library upon completion of the Master’s Thesis submission process.
- “Library Clearance Certificate” from the School of Medicine’s Library, which confirms that the student has no outstanding obligations to the library. This certificate is usually requested in bulk by the Programme Secretariat and provided to students eligible for graduation. In urgent cases, and after consultation with the Programme Secretariat, students may request it themselves by emailing from their institutional account to dmanolop@auth.gr, including their full student details (full name, father’s name, postgraduate programme, student ID number), and will receive it electronically.
- Return of the Academic ID Card, using any convenient method (in-person, courier, etc.) to the Programme Secretariat by the deadline for submission of Graduation Applications. If the student never received an Academic ID during their studies, they must submit an “Other Request” via students.auth.gr, stating this fact so that the Secretariat can verify accordingly. In any case, the validity of Academic ID cards ends with graduation, and they are deactivated on the Ministry’s platform after the degree is awarded.
- Graduation Fee – €19. Upon graduation, the graduate receives electronically:
* One (1) copy of the Master’s Degree
* One (1) official Transcript of Records
* The Diploma Supplement (in both Greek and English), all digitally signed.
These documents include a QR code that allows verification by third parties even in printed form. No request is required for these documents, as they are automatically generated after graduation. However, according to AUTh’s pricing policy (https://it.auth.gr/manuals/alumni-app/), a fee of €13 is charged for the Master’s Degree copy and €6 for the Transcript. Payment of the total €19 fee must be made to Piraeus Bank, account IBAN: GR8701722720005272041780361, beneficiary: Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh), and the proof of payment must be uploaded in PDF format during the Graduation Application process.
Permanent or indefinite-term public sector employees and employees of Legal Entities under Public Law (ΝΠΔΔ) are entitled to a 50% discount on the respective fees. Like with any other digital certificate, graduates will receive an email to their institutional account when the graduation documents are ready to be downloaded from their profile on students.auth.gr.
Submitting the Graduation Application
Once students are informed by the Secretariat that the application period for graduation has opened and they have all four (4) above required items, they may submit the Graduation Application via students.auth.gr, following the instructions available at: https://it.auth.gr/manuals/aitisi-orkomosias/.
During the application submission, you will see a note indicating that presence at the graduation ceremony is mandatory. Please disregard this note, as it applies only to undergraduate students. Attendance is not required for postgraduate students.
The official Diploma Parchment (the printed diploma scroll)
If you wish to obtain the official diploma parchment (the printed diploma scroll), you must pay an additional fee of €32. This can be done in two ways:
* By bank deposit, with the payment proof sent to the Secretariat, or
* Preferably, via bank card, by submitting an electronic request for “Paid Master’s Diploma Parchment” through students.auth.gr.
Payment via bank deposit is made to Piraeus Bank, account IBAN: GR8701722720005272041780361, beneficiary: Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh). Online payment is made directly with a bank card. This application is only available to graduates, so it can only be submitted after your graduation date.
Permanent or indefinite-term public sector employees and employees of Legal Entities under Public Law (ΝΠΔΔ) are entitled to a 50% discount on this fee as well. However, online payment does not support discounts, so if you are eligible, you must pay by bank deposit.
Collection of the parchment is arranged with the Programme Secretariat and can be done either in person or by an authorized representative (with ID and signed confirmation in the parchment collection logbook).
