Thesis Submission

Presentation of the Master’s Thesis

Once the student completes their Master’s Thesis, the following steps are followed:

  1. The student contacts their thesis supervisor and submits the thesis for review. The supervisor checks the thesis and, if necessary, suggests possible corrections.
  2. After making the necessary corrections and once the thesis has reached its final form, the student sends it to the Secretariat of the Programme and to all three members of the examining committee and arranges with them the date and time of the presentation. Typically, at least 10 days must pass from the time of submission to allow all committee members enough time to review the work. At the same time, the Secretariat of the Postgraduate Programme is informed of the date and time of the presentation (either by the student or the committee).
  3. The Programme Secretariat sends an official invitation to the committee members and the student, attaching the grading form that must be returned signed by all three committee members after the presentation. The invitation includes the date, time, and location of the presentation (if held in person), or a Zoom link if conducted remotely (which is the usual procedure).
  4. The student prepares a PowerPoint presentation of 10–15 slides to support the oral presentation of their thesis, which takes place as scheduled.
  5. The three-member committee returns the completed and signed grading form to the Programme Secretariat.
  6. The Programme Secretariat enters the grade into the Electronic Secretariat System. The date of the thesis presentation is recorded as the date of the student’s final academic obligation.

Submission of the Master’s Thesis to the Central Library

  1. After the presentation of the Master’s Thesis, the student must submit it to the Library of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh). The submission of Master’s and Doctoral Theses is done only electronically by sending the required documents from the student’s university email to the following address: dissertations@lib.auth.gr.

From there it is forwarded to the Central Secretariat of the School of Medicine to be signed and finally returned to the student, signed, ready for submition to the Central Library. In this document, the student must choose either: a) to have the thesis published immediately by the Library, or b) to have it published after a three (3) year embargo, in which case a justification must also be provided.
    2. A file in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format containing the full text of the thesis.
    3. A Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) file with the thesis abstracts (in both Greek and English).
